ZIMBABWE international Teenage Hadebe says it’s one of the highlights of his career after he picked up his first major silverware in the United States.

The Warriors defender was an injury-time substitute as Houston Dynamo defeated Inter Miami, who were without injured superstar Lionel Messi, to win the 2023 US Open Cup.

Houston won 2-1.

Hadebe was introduced in the 91st minute to help see out the game for Houston who landed their second US Open Cup title.

“I am happy to win my first silverware with the club, it’s something I always dreamt of since I got here,” he said.

“And, I’m proud that we’ve managed to do that as a team.

“Of course, it was an emotional moment for me, it’s something I was looking forward to. And, this will be one of the highlights of my career as a footballer.

“I want to thank everyone who wished my team good fortune and everyone who has been sending me congratulatory messages.”

He added:

“I want to prove my worth to the club and do all I can to make sure that I help my club in achieving their targets.”

This is the second time Houston have won the US Open Cup after their first victory in 2018.
