JUSTICE just got a tech upgrade in the sticks!
Matabeleland North and Mashonaland Central are now ground zero for Zimbabwe’s bold leap into the future as they spearhead Phase Four of the Integrated Electronic Case Management System (IECMS), a mouthful that simply means: your court case just went digital.

Victoria Falls, best known for its majestic spray, turned into a hub of legal innovation on Friday as the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) kicked off training for cops, prosecutors, prison officials and court staff. The goal? To plug the lower courts into a digital grid that promises to slash paperwork and speed up justice delivery.

“We’re here to raise awareness and bring everyone on board — from ZRP to NPA,” said JSC Secretary Mr Walter Chikwana. “It’s all hands on deck for a seamless rollout!”
According to Chikwana, the new digital system means you’ll soon be able to check your case status online, file documents electronically, and even participate in hearings remotely, a game-changer for folks in remote communities.

“It’s about leaving no one behind,” he said. “We’re bringing rural voices into the justice system and boosting transparency with real-time public access.”
IECMS first hit the scene in 2022 with Zimbabwe’s top courts, then trickled into the Labour and Administrative Courts. By September 2023, even the magistrates’ courts were getting a digital glow-up.

Now it’s the grassroots’ turn and if all goes to plan, the entire magistrates’ court system could be fully online by mid-2025.
Court in the bush? Now it’s one click away.
