PRESIDENT Mnangagwa has reiterated the critical need for all government institutions to fully adopt the ongoing global digital technology revolution.
He lamented that, despite the vast Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills possessed by the nation’s youth, the government has only a few functional and up-to-date Ministry websites, which he termed a misnomer.
The President made these remarks on Tuesday while addressing the last Cabinet meeting for the year.
He called for urgent action to remedy this situation, highlighting the importance of effective government communication and the need for overall messaging to be more impactful and accessible.
“It is a misnomer that with the abundant ICTs skills and capacities among young people, our Government has only a few functional and up-to-date Ministry websites. More should be done to improve this situation. Likewise, Government communication dissemination strategies and overall messaging must be improved,” said President Mnangagwa.
As the Cabinet prepares to close the year and set the agenda for 2025, the President underscored the necessity for structural transformation within Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
He stressed that such changes are essential to propel Zimbabwe towards achieving its Vision 2030.
“As we close the year and set the agenda for 2025, the need for structural transformation of our Ministries, Departments and Agencies to propel our Vision 2030 is of paramount importance. We witnessed the role of ARDA in anchoring critical aspects of our Agriculture Food Systems and Transformation Strategy, along with entities such as Zimtrade on the trade side and Institutions of Higher Learning with regard to science, technology and innovation.
“Similar pursuits must therefore be made to identify strategic agencies within your respective Ministries to increase impactful programmes at both the grassroots and macro-economic levels,” said President Mnangagwa.
