Dineo gets up close with superstars

or DStv, were Tinsel and Jacob’s Cross. There is no denying that the two drama series are dominating the airwaves to the point that it is now boring.
Just the other day I switched to Mzansi Magic and there was Jacob’s Cross then I switched to MNA again there was Jacob’s Cross and coming back to our own ZBC-TV I was confronted by the same programme.
I understand that the programmes are also being screened on SABC channels, which are also popular in Zimbabwe.
So I asked myself, why the same programmes on different channels? Is this not like watching the same film over and again? Of course, Jacob’s Cross is one of the best productions to come out of M-Net but my problem is that it’s now confusing.
For as long as you switch channels you either watch the same episodes more than twice or you are taken to early episodes which makes it difficult to follow the story.
Elsewhere on DStv, Dineo Moeketsi has proved she has what it takes to get under the skin of some of the world’s biggest stars on season five of Channel O’s global celeb show O Access.
Starting today at 21:00 CAT, the hugely popular show on the only Original African channel on DStv sees Dineo interview two artists per episode – one a star, the other tipped as the next big thing. There’s also a whole lot of fun thrown into the mix to keep viewers entertained to the max.
Ask the talented presenter who she enjoyed interviewing most on her trip to the US to shoot Season 5 and she doesn’t hesitate: “Ne-Yo, Bruno Mars and Trey Songz stood out for me most. Ne-Yo for being such an articulate artist, Bruno for being so down to earth and Trey Songz for being gobsmackingly hot!” she says.
Also high up on Dineo’s list of must-see interviews is with current female artist of the moment, Nicki Minaj.
“I say Nicki because she was super receptive especially for someone who was in-between takes for her video “Moment For Life”.
And the upcoming season of O Access has plenty of must-see moments that took even Dineo by surprise.
“My most surprising moment was with Bruno Mars but I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag because everyone will see why when the episode airs. All I can say is the second part of the interview was not planned,” she adds.
At just 22-years-old, Dineo was discovered after the first ever O Access presenter search in 2010 and the Kwa-Thema-raised, National School of the Arts graduate has come good on the promise she showed during that talent search.
Dineo – who has previously sung backing vocals for Flash Republic and acted in Soul City 10 – is a Channel O viewer’s link into the O Access world which, this time around, also takes a look at those individuals or groups who are set to become the next big thing.
This comes through the newly created Next segment of the show which showcases the rising talents of the likes of Miguel, Audio Push and Mindless Behaviour.
“We’re looking at both who is going to crack the big time and the A-listers who have shown that it is possible to get there, no matter what your beginnings,” says Dineo of the upcoming season of Channel O’s hugely popular celeb entertainment show.
Something that subscribers of DStv need to know is that the subscription price for DStv’s Premium, Compact and Compact + Sport bouquets will increase with effect from the 1st of April 2011.
Another new development is that DStv has issued out some handy hints about their services.
I’m told not everyone knows how to use remote control and so here are some of the tips that many overlook. When an amber light appears on your DStv decoder or a small envelope appears on the corner of your screen it means you got mail!
