Former Deputy Clerk of Parliament Ms Helen Dingane has been reappointed to the position after her contract with Pan African Parliament ended. Ms Dingane, who has since started work, replaced Mr Kennedy Chokuda, who was last month elevated to the position of Clerk of Parliament.

Mr Chokuda replaced Mr Austin Zvoma who retired in November last year after serving for 25 years.

Mr Chokuda was the successful candidate after Parliament’s Standing Rules and Orders Committee conducted interviews on four applicants last month.

Ms Dingane was one of the applicants and was interviewed for the post of Clerk of Parliament, but lost.

Speaker of the National Assembly Advocate Jacob Mudenda confirmed Ms Dingane’s appointment, but refused to give details saying it was an administrative issue. “I am out of the country, but l can confirm to you that she is the new Deputy Clerk of Parliament. I cannot go further as this is an administrative issue and not a policy issue. You can call her to confirm,” he said.
