THE Sports Commission will tomorrow hold a sport stakeholders’ dinner at Rainbow Towers Hotel in Harare to familiarise stakeholders with the new Government’s thrust regarding sport. The dinner dubbed “Meet the Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture” will be graced by Sport, Arts and Culture Minister, Andrew Langa, who is expected to deliver a key note address outlining Government’s thrust and expectations.
Sports Commission corporate communications officer Tirivashe Nheweyembwa said the dinner comes at a time when the sporting fraternity is expecting a lot from the Government as they are facing various challenges that have continued to hinder progress.
“‘Meet the Minister dinner’ has come at the right time when the stakeholders in the sports sector are expecting a lot from the Government given the number of challenges that they are facing at the moment and it is therefore our hope that the Honourable Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Andrew Langa will be able to articulate the new thrust and vision so that we can move together as a nation.
“It is, therefore, important for all the sport stakeholders to attend this forum so that they can hear for themselves what the government has in store for them and also what it expects from them, as this has to be in partnership with them,” said Nheweyembwa.
Nheweyembwa noted that during the stakeholders’ engagement, the stakeholders shall be given a chance to field questions to the minister so that the interaction is enhanced for the benefit of the sector.
The stakeholders’ dinner comes after the minister held a sports, arts and culture stakeholders’ breakfast meeting last month which was also attended by various national sport associations.
And tomorrow the sport sector will have another opportunity to engage the minister as they map the way forward for the development of sport.
