Rasta Kwasa musician Dino Mudondo yesterday approached the Harare Civil Court claiming $250 from a prominent lawyer for a queen bed cover set he took from his shop.
Mudondo said Fred Machokoto of Mambosasa Legal Practitioners took the set on February 14 2013 (Valentine’s Day) and promised to pay the full amount that same month-end.

“He took a $250 bed cover set from my shop on February 14 and the customer was meant to pay in full on the month-end,” said Mudondo.

Mudondo said he trusted Machokoto since he is his close friend but each time he asks him for the payment he says things are hard for him.

“I want him to pay the amount in full plus costs of suit,” Mudondo said.

Machokoto did not turn up at the court. Magistrate Tafadzwa Muvhami granted the claim in default which ordered Machokoto to pay Mudondo in full before the end of November.

He also ordered Machokoto to pay for the costs of suit incurred by Mudondo while processing the court papers.

Last week Dendera musician Allan Chimbetu filed an application at the Harare Civil Court claiming $10 000 from a Bulawayo sports bar to cover for his expenses’, damages and losses he incurred after being hired to perform at the club. The matter is expected to appear in court soon.
