“It is quite peaceful at the moment and everything is in order despite isolated reports of violence in the media. All parties are organised and moving step by step which shows the election process will be more peaceful and successful.
“Over the past three years, I fell in love with the people and it is the most enjoyable time in my diplomatic career. I have done the best to promote relations between Zimbabwe and China,” he said.
Mr Zhao said he hoped for an increase of development of mutual beneficial co-operation between the two countries.
He said people have to be optimistic after the harmonised elections.
Mr Cui said he would exert more effort to cement ties between China and Zimbabwe.
“There has been a growing interest of Zimbabwe by Chinese nationals and the country holds a special appeal distinguishable by its unspoilt natural beauty, abundant resources, history and quality education.
“As a result of the friendship, most areas have flourished and notably trade, manufacturing industries and tourism,” Mr Cui said.
Chinese ambassador Mr Lin Lin hailed Mr Zhao for the contributions he made to diplomatic relations between China and Zimbabwe.
“His intelligence has been vital and it is fortunate Mr Cui comes at a time when the country is going to hold general elections.”
