Disabled boy dies in well

A SIX-YEAR-OLD physically challenged boy from Buhera last weekend crawled and drowned in an eight-metre deep well after he was left unattended.Police confirmed the incident and said Tinoronga Nyekete was left in the custody of Trymore Sakuinje (15) by his grandmother, Adeline Kwakazi who had visited neighbours.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa, urged guardians to be cautious and avoid leaving children unattended.

“Kwakazi left Tinoronga in Trymore’s custody. Trymore later left him unattended and went to water the garden. He later went away to a neighbour’s place and left the well unprotected. Tinoronga crawled towards the eight-metre deep well and drowned,” he said.

No foul play is suspected.
