A CUNNING car thief took advantage of a man who was playing pool at a restaurant in Harare to steal his Mercedes Benz on Saturday night.
Police are now on the hunt for the woman who allegedly used the game of pool as a smokescreen to pull off the car theft right under the victim’s nose.
According to National Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the incident unfolded at a restaurant located at the intersection of Josiah Chinamano Avenue and Mazowe Street in Harare on Saturday.
The complainant was enjoying a game of pool with the unidentified woman when she allegedly executed her audacious plan.
The woman stole the car keys from the man’s jacket and slipped out of the restaurant unnoticed.
She opened the doors of the man’s white C200 Mercedes Benz.
“She then sped off at high speed in the stolen vehicle in the direction of Mazowe,” said Comm Nyathi.
Police are now appealing for any information that could lead to the arrest of this car thief.
“We urge anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious or has any information regarding this case to come forward and assist with our investigations,” Comm Nyathi said .
