THE Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza has called for the fair distribution of Government funded inputs under the Pfvumvudza/Intwasa Programme.
Advocate Mugadza said this while officially launching the Manicaland Province 2025/26 Pfumvudza/Intwasa in Chigodora Village yesterday, where he added that farming model has proved vital in achieving food security.
“In the spirit of ‘Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo’, I appeal that may we distribute these inputs fairly. Every person deserves to receive the inputs which are coming from President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
” For the current 2025/26 agricultural season, Manicaland has set even more ambitious goals, guided by the positive momentum of previous years and improved rainfall forecasts. Targeted plots stand at 1 365,576 plots, covering 84 613 hectares for maize only and for 451 992 households. The projected cereal yield across maize, sorghum and millet is 140 000 metric tonnes. As of early November more than 1,6 million plots have been prepared province-wide for all crops, and the pace is expected to accelerate with on going farmer training and mobilisation. Maize and other crops planting for this season has started across the province.
“These commendable efforts position Manicaland to make a significant contribution to the national target of 3,2 million tonnes of cereals by 2025/26 season, ” Advocate Mugadza.
Host farmer, Mr Noah Manzini hailed the Government for the timeous distribution of inputs. He also credited the Pfumvudza concept for his increased yield.
“Farmers here are grateful to the Government for giving us inputs for free and most importantly on time. Since Pfumvudza was launched, it has helped us to achieve good yields enough for our own consumption and for sale to the Grain Marketing Board,” he said.
