suspected MDC-T thugs outside a pharmacy in Harare.
DCC-6 chairman Cde Joshua Gore was struck with an iron bar and sustained a deep cut on the head.
Cde Gore lost US$250 and medication he had just bought from the pharmacy.
He was attacked around 4pm while leaving the pharmacy and was treated at Parirenyatwa Hospital where he was discharged on Sunday night.
He was yesterday recovering at his Mbare home.
Police spokesperson Inspector James Sabau said 10 suspects have been picked up in connection with the matter and investigations were progressing.
“We have picked up 10 suspects and they are assisting us with investigations. We are still to hold an identification parade,” said Insp Sabau
Cde Gore said four men attacked him.
Two of them, he said, were wearing caps with the MDC-T logo. Cde Gore said one man blocked his way and asked him if he was not “Gore, a Zanu-PF activist” before assaulting him. He said one of the men struck him with an iron bar on the head and he fell down while others kicked him. Cde Gore said the gang grabbed his bag that had money and his medication.
Throughout the interrogation, Cde Gore’s ear was bleeding. The incident occurred on the day MDC-T officials congregated at their Harvest House headquarters in the central business district for a restructuring exercise.
