PREPARATIONS for the district based tournament for out of school youths are at an advanced stage with the Ministry of Sports and Recreation in collaboration with The Ministry of Youth, Indigenisation and Employment Creation behind the initiative. The tournament is running under the theme: ‘To identify and market the talents of the youths’.
According to organisers, youths themselves will play the leading role as they aim to market their talents.
The initiative is meant to provide platform to youths who have limited access to showcase their talents.
This tournament will be targeting youths out of school.
Participating youths will battle it out in soccer (both men and women), volleyball (men and women) as well as netball for women.
The tournament will be played from ward, cluster, district to constituency levels. The ward finals will be held on February 28, while the district finals will be held in March. Venues are yet to be announced.
“These tournaments have commenced and teams are already battling to form their best teams around their constituencies,” said Clifford Mujoko from the Ministry of Sports and Recreation.
“The games are for youths who are now out of school and are above 15,” he said.
