Divine Appointments: Raising national altars

Christ, more than two thousand years ago is the sum total of God’s eternal love for us as He says in John 3:16.
Christians and their respective churches are busy preparing to celebrate Easter. There are hundreds of events lined up, and we hope that these are events that extol the Creator and not the created. A week before Easter, there will be a conference titled “Raising an Altar at the Threshing Floor”.
The conference will be held from March 29-31 at the Faith Ministries Borrowdale Community Church, and there are various speakers lined up.
The goals of the conference are:
1. To appeal for the sovereign mercy of God through worship;
2. To signify our absolute surrender to God through worship; and,
3. Raising this altar denotes total dependence and reliance on God as a nation.
Mrs Priscilla Wazara, one of the event organisers said, “This year 2012 is the year of order. Every born again, Spirit-filled child of God cannot serve God effectively or successfully without an efficient prayer altar, which is a point of contact.
“If we are to be successful in every area of our lives we need Godly altars to connect with God: a healthy individual, family, business, church and national altar.”
Mrs Wazara added, “Raising an altar at the threshing floor is based on 1 Chronicles 21:18-30. Thus, the very core of this conference is prayer and worship. The threshing floor is a place to appease God, a place for repentance, reconnecting, offering, a place of worship, sifting, separating and ultimately, a place of blessing — a very significant place for every believer. This raising of a national altar in a corporate setting is more significant than if we were to come before God individually.”
She maintained that “when there is corporate worship in unison and a corporate anointing is released, we believe that as we join together as the body of Christ and stand in the gap for Zimbabwe, we will see God’s manifest blessing and presence and a renewal and re-enforcement of our national altar to God, according to Exodus 20:24 when Jehovah God said, ‘Make an altar of earth for me and sacrifice on it burnt offerings, your sheep and goats and your cattle. Wherever I cause my name to be honoured, I will come to you and bless you.’”
But now we do not need burnt offerings because Jesus Christ became the supreme sacrifice. Other scripture references given were 1 Kings 18; John 4:23-24 and Romans 12:1-2.
