When it comes to God, He operates in seasons and we have different seasons, typical of our summer, winter, autumn and spring.
In Greek, the time is divided in two, namely Kronos and Kairos.
According to the dictates of human nature, man understands Kronos.
It is a dry and lean period, characterised by difficulties in one’s life and that time is easy to recognise and too difficult to forget.
In such lean and bad times, many people are forced to adjust through this inescapable cycle of life in order to survive. Behaviour changes and even songs are tailored to suit such situations.
The danger with Kronos is that it defies ordinary life, and it is bereft of the general goodies of the old happy times of plenty.
It is challenging. It needs adapting and faith. It requires new tactics to survive while at the same time remaining Godly.
In such times the devil is tempting.
The devil comes as disguised as a solution, disguised as an emissary for plentitude. The devil tempts in a manner that could prove too difficult to resist but that is the time people should be reminded of how the devil tempted Jesus on many occasions.
But soon to follow immediately after the Kronos is the time of plenty and happiness. The time to reflect into the past and enjoy overcoming the previous difficulties — Kairos.
God, the almighty, the father of the dead and the living obviously has good times set for every human being. The difference is the time. Each person will have his or her chance. Kairos is uncommon and extraordinary.
Kairos time is pregnant with opportunities. It is usually meant for the children of God.
Man is unable to define it in his own wisdom but with God’s blessings.
When everybody doubts you, Kairos takes over. When the odds are heavily pitted against you, Kairos takes over, if you remain steadfast behind your God.
Kairos brings unexpected favours like Esther in the book of Esther chapter 5 verse 6, which reads: “And the king said unto Esther at the banquet of wine, ‘What is thy petition? And it shall be granted thee and what is thy request? Even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed.’”
An orphan becoming the queen. God creates an opportunity for us all. Kairos qualifies the unqualified.
God decorates us when the time is ripe.
The good part about Kairos is that it does not preoccupy itself with the poverty of the past.
When Kronos says no, Kairos says yes. When Kairos comes there will be a spirit of reminiscence, love and respect.
During Kairos the Holy Ghost hovers. Kairos usually comes with the word of God.
Kings 11, chapter 7 verse 1 says: “Then Elisha said; Hear ye the word of the Lord; thus saith the Lord, tomorrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria. (Tsoka dzavatsvene dzinorongwa naJehovha.)
Kairos time will come when someone is faced with difficulties and when one is hopeless and turns the negative into the positive.
God can work out a miracle at any time and any day, he is full of new things and wonders.
In Genesis 18:14 God says: “Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.”
After a period of hardship in Egypt the Lord instructed Moses to lead his people to Canaan the land of honey and milk.
Kairos works out things when there is opposition. Joseph remained calm and silent when his brothers were fighting him.
The Kairos time requires someone to be positioned spiritually in order to face his or her giants.
Christians should sense the things of God like Ruth said to Naomi: “Wherever you go I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, thy God my God”.
Seasons of God will bring victory and doors of opportunities will be opened.
