Divorcee’s maintenance bid flops

Lethokuhle Moyo Court Reporter
A second attempt by a Bulawayo woman to get maintenance from her former husband failed yesterday despite her plea that she is of ill health.

Sinqobile Mabhena of Mahatshula suburb who wants to be paid $100 a month, said because of her ill health she will never get married again.

Mabhena insists that Dumisani Zulu remains her husband since he divorced her in her absence at the High Court.

She told magistrate Sheunesu Matova that she has a heart problem and as such she will not be married again.

Mabhena and Zulu are no strangers at the Maintenance Court as they last October appeared before the same Matova who dismissed Mabhena’s application for maintenance on the grounds that she was divorced.

When Matova asked her on what basis she was claiming maintenance yesterday, Mabhena said it was because she still considered herself as Zulu’s wife.
