THE stage is set, the lights are ready, and the runway is calling. The fourth edition of DJ Mapressa’s Glam and Fashion Show which is promising to be the biggest and most glamorous yet, will take place in Johannesburg tomorrow.
Previously known as the Mapressa July, the event themed “Classy and Glamorous”, will bring together a blend of Zimbabwean and South African creatives from music, acting, fashion, and media spheres.
The glamour-packed red carpet will see attendees mingling with South African TV stars such as Detective Nyawo and Thandeka King from Uzalo, as well as Lady N and other popular personalities. Musical performances will be provided by a star-studded line-up including Professor, Fortune Dawu, Dalom Kids, Quality Biyela, Slim Vivo, Insimbi ZeZhwane, and Dziba le Mvula among others.
Speaking to Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub, DJ Mapressa said the momentum surrounding this year’s event is unmatched.

“The fourth edition will be the biggest ever because people now understand the concept of the event and are rallying behind it. Over half the tickets have already been sold via Computicket,” he said.
Backed by over 20 corporate sponsors, the event will feature exhibitions, glitzy runway showcases, and provide networking opportunities for designers, musicians, and entertainment personalities alike.
“It’s more than just a fashion show, it’s a celebration of culture, style, and connection. We expect lavish, luxurious grand entrances, free professional photoshoots, and a full runway experience,” DJ Mapressa added.
On how the idea of the event came up, DJ Mapressa said: “The idea came from observing that our Zimbabwean community in South Africa mostly gathers during funerals. I saw a gap, we needed a platform to connect, celebrate, and uplift one another.
“Our designers are often excluded from big fashion weeks due to lack of necessary paperwork. This event gives them a spotlight, a platform to shine, to connect with audiences, and to showcase their craft in a prestigious setting.”
On bringing the Glam and Fashion Show to Zimbabwe, DJ Mapressa said: “The probability is high that we can bring the event there in summer.” —@mthabisi_mthire
