Lindiwe Siziba, better known behind the decks as DJ Ndoe, is proving that passion and perseverance can turn dreams into reality. The 35-year-old Bulawayo-born DJ has carved out a name for herself in the male-dominated music industry with a distinct style and love for music.
DJ Ndoe who has played at most notable events and venues in the city including Garden of House, Marvel House, and Something Strange, is not just playing music, she is changing the game for women in the industry. By day, she crunches numbers as an accountant, but by night, she transforms into DJ Ndoe, the heartbeat of the party.
Her journey began in 2006 at Vhembe High School in Beitbridge, where she first showcased her skills at a school leavers’ party. What started as a hobby quickly grew into a calling.
In an interview, she shared how music is not just a hobby for her, but more of a calling.
“For me, music is a universal language with the power to unite people. I’m drawn to songs with deep meaning, and that inspires me to create my own sound,” she said.
Sharing her journey over the years, she said she honed her craft under the mentorship of Mega Audio DJs and Soul Identity DJs. Today, her impressive portfolio boasts collaborations with top brands like Defined House, Mega Audio, and Oxygen.
She has graced major stages, spinning at events such as Garage House Festival, Garden of House, Marvel House, Something Strange, House in the City, For the City Movement, The Globetrotter Bash, Black Cap Gang, Kalawa Homecoming, and the Pagomba Festival.
With this support she has received and after overcoming challenges in securing gigs and establishing herself in the industry, DJ Ndoe is determined to uplift other women.
To achieve this, she is organising an all-women music festival scheduled for later this year, creating a platform for female artistes to showcase their talent and gain visibility.
“This event is about empowering women in music and giving them the stage they deserve. I’m very passionate about music so I want to make a name for myself and pave the way for other women because I know how hard it is for us in this industry,” she said.
In Bulawayo, female DJs are still few, with notable names including DJ Liz, DJ CP, DJ Crazy Dee, and DJ Stockswit.
