Canadian-based international DJ and singer Slicey T has signed two talented young artistes Jah Limbo (25) and Lil Major (12) to his record stable. The African Radio Show host Slicey T said he was impressed with the raw talent the two youngsters exhibited and was ready to take them to next level.
“Since I came back home I have been scouting for untapped talent and I must say that I was impressed by two youngsters.
“They are still to make names but they have what it takes to breakthrough internationally for as long as they remain level-headed.
“The problem with working with known names especially in Zimdancehall is that they let fame get into their heads.
“They simply don’t know how to conduct themselves on and off stage, no respect and lack professionalism. It’s sad to say that if this is the kind of behaviour that most Zimdancehall artistes have then there is no future for them,” Slicey T said.
However, he said he was excited to work with Jah Limbo, born Willis Mangadza and Lil Major real name Malcom Viriri.
“The two struck me as down-to-earth artistes itching for a chance to perform before an international audience.
“I hope when they make it they will remain level-headed,” he said.
He said as a huge fan of Zimdancehall he felt obliged to promote the two to build their own brands as musicians.
So far, Lil Major has recorded a track with Russell Chiradza of This is Russo Production. The track is titled “Me and My Babe”.
Lil Major was inspired by Chris Brown and Young Money rapper Lil Wayne while Jah Limbo got inspiration by the likes of Busy Signal and Andy Brown.
According to DJ Slicey T real name Tinos Viriri his record stable will be launching the artistes before taking them on a tour of Canada and America soon.
“I’m working with overseas producers.
“This is because I will be promoting some Zimdancehall and urban grooves artistes for shows in Canada.
I think I got my mind made up on who to invite and who not to due to some of the artistes attitude problems in the industry,” he said.
Dj Slicey T recently launched the first African Radio Show in Canada that broadcasts every Sunday from 12 noon to 1pm mountain time, 8pm Zimbabwean time on: <http://cjsr.streamon.fm/> also accessed online or tune in App or 88.5FM for those in Canada.
Some of the featured artistes on the show include the likes of Oliver Mtukudzi, Dr Thomas Mapfumo, Nox Guni, Bojo Mujo, Biblos, Selmour Mtukudzi and comedian Uncle Ritchie.
The show is aimed at giving African artistes the much needed exposure as well as updates to Zimbabweans and the African community living in Canada on the trends across the African continent ranging from entertainment, sports, social and politics.
