INTERNATIONALLY accl-aimed Zimbabwean disc jockey Deon Fulton Ruwizhi who died in a car crash at the weekend will be buried today at Glen Forest at 12 noon.Family spokesperson, Sabina Mano who is also aunt to Deon said a church service will be held at Nussield Funeral Parlour at 10am.
“All those who want to pay their last respects to Deon are welcome. The service will be conducted at Nussield Funeral Parlour in the Chapel and then we depart for the burial at Glen Forest Cemetery today,” she said.
More popularly known on the club scene as Dj Smoove, Deon died in a car crash in early hours of Friday near Sam Levy’s Village on his way home from Helensvale. The well-travelled Dj Smoove was now a resident Dj at the newly opened Club H2O at Sam Levy’s Village.
Besides the guest appearances on Star FM’s Breeze Show hosted by Iyati and Tariro, Dj Smoove also toured Belgium, Holland, the United Kingdom and the United States.
His death came at a time when he had released his first single off the album “Dj Chronicles Vol 1” which was due for release next year. The single featured vocalist Gianna Charles.
Recently, he was part of the Universal Music tour of the United States where the dreadlocked Dj joined other internationally acclaimed Djs.
Dj Smoove shared the decks with some of the world’s famous artistes in the likes of Jay Z, Neptunes, Erykah Badu, Destiny’s Child as well as DJs among them Fatman Scoop, Clue and Envy.
He is survived by his one-year-old son Brooklyn Caitano. Mourners are gathered at number 82 4th Avenue in Mbare.
