DJs clash at City Sports Bar

Entertainment Reporter
Club DJs converge at City Sports Bar on Friday for a show dubbed “First Ever Harare Club DJs Convergence”. About 40 club DJs from several entertainment joints in the capital will take turns to present their best selections on the turntables on the night.
Whilst the show is not themed as a competition, the wheel spinners are likely to be on a subtle mission to outdo each other. Various genres and selections are bound to be on offer as the DJs, coming from different backgrounds, square up for fame and popularity.

The DJs are drawn from joints that cut across class strata. From Whispers Nightclub at Gazaland in Highfield to Zim Café in the Avenues area, the disc jockeys are likely to bring their followers from various backgrounds together.

From Whispers comes DJ Artaz while from Zim Café would be DJs Dexter Dee and Dee Blaze.  Other DJs to feature at the show include Joe Mentro and Phil Ja Boi from Private Lounge, Flavar and Sweeto from Big Apple and Mubako Bar’s Stone and Ko’ Sta.

Open air joints like Extra Mile, Zindoga and Richwood would be represented by DJs Bvongo, Love King and Sharp Mix respectively while Megga1 and Megga 2 send in Brian and Turn Tables.

Destiny from Alex Sports Club, Drive Inn’s Soul Train, Underground of Roof Top and Taylor from Tipperary’s would also be on the line-up.

Other participating DJs include Sweet Candy (Grain Lounge), Devante (Club 32), Tee One (Beer Engine), Archie Wonder (Holly’s), Nash (holly’s), Ironik (Ligi), Speed (Tube) and Sammy Lee (Barca).

The hosts City Sports Bar would be represented by DJ Zawalila while guest DJs would include Nash, Vybz, Gerry B and Blue Ice.

Organisers of the show said they had brought together the various DJs to have a show that attracts people of varying music tastes to a single show.

“People that go to clubs have various music tastes and they are served by different disc jockeys. We realised there could be more entertainment value if we brought the DJs together so that many people can come and enjoy the show together. It is a show that would unite people in happiness,” said one of the organisers.
