Do you hold a genuine Tax Clearance Certificate (ITF 263)?

Did you know that a Tax Clearance Certificate is issued for free by the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) only to traders upon request?
A Tax Clearance Certificate is a written confirmation from the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority that a person’s tax affairs are in order at the date of issue of the certificate.
If you are a trader who obtains a tax clearance from a buyer, but you are in doubt of its authenticity, you must verify with Zimra if it is genuine.

You can be prosecuted for possessing a fake Tax Clearance Certificate and also be required to pay the withholding tax lost due to use of such a fake certificate.

Where to get Tax Clearance Certificate
Tax Clearance Certificates are issued only by Zimra to clients whose tax affairs are up-to-date or where appropriate arrangements to normalise the tax affairs have been put in place or agreed with Zimra and the certificates are issued for FREE. Avoid getting the certificates from bogus tax consultants for a fee.

Ways of verifying the authenticity of tax clearances
1. Zimra Website
You visit Zimra website [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> and go to Taxes tab, thengo to Companies and select ITF 263 Certified Clients and download your Zimra region. This will give you the list and the details of all the genuine tax clearances issued by the respective Zimra region.
2. Visit or phone your nearest Zimra Office You can also visit or phone the nearest Zimra office and you will be assisted free of charge.
3. Writing a letter or e-mail: The other way is writing to the nearest Zimra office giving the details of the tax clearance certificate you hold.
