Popular comedian Doc Vikela has left the country for South Africa to take part in a stand-up comedy show scheduled for this weekend.
Doc Vikela whose real name is Victor Mpofu is expected to give the Mzansi folk a taste of his medicine at the Jou Ma Se Comedy Club on January 31 before the Armchair Theatre show on February 2.
His publicist Shanee Banda confirmed the tour.
“Doc Vikela will also be representing the local fashion industry as he will be dressed by Kay Seven CL.
“The fashion design house will also be dressing him for the whole year.
“He is set to perform on two venues and will be in South Africa for a week,” said the publicist.
In an interview before he left, Vikela said was happy about the show and everything was well arranged for him.
“I am going to market the country well through comedy and fashion and put us on the international map of comedy. .
“After the tour Mzansi people will tell you that I am show-stopper. I am going there to make people laugh and God help me if I don’t do just that”, he said.
The award-winning comedian is considered to be one of Zimbabwe’s sharpest comedians with his witty insight on global affairs.
He is also a founding member of Simuka Comedy.
Doc Vikela started off getting slots at events as master of ceremonies and became a model, choreographer and actor.
With his rich background in theatre, stand-up comedy was a natural shift.
His very first performance was at The Book Café Open Mic in February 2011.
The talent comedian has now grown into a renowned performer, giving spellbound performances and dazzling fans around the country.
In 2012 he won the Most Improved Comedian Award from the Zimbabwe-German Society.
