DOEK & SLAY WANTS TO GET BIGGER, BETTER

Maria Chiguvari

ORGANISERS of the hugely popular Doek & Slay all-women parties have said they want to make their project bigger and better and have called for partnerships with private sponsors and the Government.

The Doek & Slay project was officially launched in Harare on Tuesday. It has become the biggest social meeting place for women in this country with its shows now attracting more than 10 000 people on average.

The organisers told H-Metro in a statement:

“I hope you will agree with us that the influence and impact of Doek & Slay in Zimbabwe cannot be ignored.

“We remain encouraged by our tremendous growth as we strive to get better with every event we host.

“With Doek & Slay, we have managed to create an atmosphere which is highly appreciated by women.

“There has been a notable growth in unity and peace amongst our patrons, strangers have become sisters, mothers have created memorable encounters with their daughters and friendships have been strengthened too.

“Since its birth in 2023, our event has managed to attract multitudes of women as patrons and has created employment for artists and facilitated business opportunities for women entrepreneurs and service providers.

“We are excited about this growth and impact as we are transforming lives and contributing to national economic growth.”

Doek and Slay events are hosted countrywide at suitable outdoor venues. So far, the shows have been held in Harare, Mutare, Masvingo, Kadoma, Gweru, and Bulawayo.

“ As part of our continuous improvement, we are preparing ourselves towards strategic and corporate partnerships and calling for Government support towards our Doek & Slay brand as we anticipate going regional and global.

“We are dedicated to investing in the arts and to promote and export Zimbabwean culture and make Zimbabwe a destination of choice.

“We are happy to share that we had fruitful engagements which resulted in our first-ever Doek & Slay event in Zambia.

“We look forward to working with the Government, the arts industry as a whole, the civil society, the corporate world, entrepreneurs, regional and international community, to promote participation and access to entertainment platforms by all men, women, and girls as well as people with disabilities.

“By doing so, we can create a more inclusive, sustainable, and prosperous future for the creative industries, and for the society as a whole.

“We came up with Doek & Slay with a vision to showcase diverse cultures, push boundaries and make the arts accessible to all.

“Event Hulks, strives to create memorable events connecting people and brands through innovative experiences.”
