Dogs fight over dumped babyas head

Nhlalwenhle Ncube
EMGANWINI residents woke up to a grisly sight last week on Tuesday after finding dogs fighting over a babyas head.

It is suspected that the dogs picked the body of a newly born dumped baby from nearby dust bins.

The dogs feasted on the body and residents came across the dogs when they were fighting over the head.

Realising that it was a human head, they threw stones at the dogs. The dogs ran away leaving the head behind.

The shocked residents swiftly reported the matter to the police.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Precious Simango confirmed the incident saying investigations were still under way.

a?We received a report of a babyas head which was found in Emganwini and investigations are still underway,a? said Insp Simango.

One of the residents Elliot Ndlovu who spoke to B-Metro said:

a?The head of a baby was found just near the bush and dogs were fighting over it.

a?We suspect these dogs found the body in one of the bins. Passersby only realised that it was a human head when dogs were fighting over the head and disturbed them,a? said Ndlovu, who noted it was a disturbing incident.

a?Some women are heartless I tell you. Chances are that someone gave birth and killed the baby before throwing the body in a bin.

a?We hope police will manage to catch the culprit because such people should pay for their actions,a? he said.

Police attended the scene and took away the babyas head.
