Dolly Parton is giving fans a health update.
While addressing her health and giving fans an update on her well-being, Dolly, 79, also spoke about how her late husband Carl Dean’s illness and death affected her.
“I want you to know that I’m okay,” she reassured her fans in an October 8 video shared to Instagram.
“I’ve got some problems, as I mentioned. Back when my husband Carl was very sick, that was for a long time, and then when he passed, I didn’t take care of myself, so I let a lot of things go that I should’ve been taking care of.”
“So anyway, when I got around to it, the doctor said, we need to take care of this. We need to take care of that,” continued Dolly.
Dolly added that what she was taking care of was “nothing major” and didn’t specify what health issues she was addressing.
“But I did have to cancel some things so I could be closer to home, closer to Vanderbilt (University Medical Centre), where I’m kind of having a few treatments here and there, but I wanted you to know that I’m not dying,” she continued.
The “9 to 5” singer concluded her message telling fans: “I’m not ready to die yet.
“ I don’t think God is through with me and I ain’t done working.”
“So I love you for caring, and keep praying for me,” she signed off.
Dolly spoke out on social media after her sister, Freida Parton, said she was “up all night praying” for the country star in a Facebook post.
“Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly. Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been lead to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me,” she wrote on October 7.
Freida, 68, followed up her initial post, saying that she “didn’t mean to scare anyone or make it sound so serious” with her social media update.
“I simply asked for prayers because I believe so strongly in the power of prayer. It was nothing more than a little sister asking for prayers for her big sister.”
Less than two weeks prior, the singer-songwriter announced on Instagram that she was postponing her Las Vegas residency dates to focus on her health. The dates, which were slated for December, will now shift to the fall of 2026. —People.
