THE construction of Dombotombo civil servants flats is almost complete with works now at 96 percent.

About 64 families will be housed at these four blocks of flats, which are expected to ease accommodation issues faced by civil servants.

Today, Special Advisor to the President on Monitoring Implementation of Government Programmes and Projects, Dr Jorum Gumbo, visited the construction site in Dombotombo suburb to assess progress.

Construction of the flats is part of the Government’s effort to deliver one million housing units in 2025.

“This is a huge project. It enhances President Mnangagwa’s mantra that “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo” and the fact that the employer must try their best to provide for their workers,” he said.

“This project here is solely for civil servants. I understand that most of the civil servants in Marondera are based in Harare.

“So it will be convenient for them to be housed here in Marondera town, where they work.”

Secretary for Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs and Devolution Mr Tavabarira Kutamahufa, also highlighted the impact of the project in Marondera.

“This project is almost complete, its impact is phenomenal. It solves the issue of housing for civil servants,” he said.

“These 64 units will go a long way in addressing accommodation challenges. As a province, we commend the President for this development, which is aimed at improving the living standards of civil servants.”
