Big companies from Wall Street to Silicon Valley are pledging donations to Donald Trump’s inaugural fund before his January 20 return to the White House, hoping to establish a positive rapport with his new administration.
The companies include:
Adobe has donated US$1 million to the fund, a company spokesperson said.
US oil and gas major Chevron will donate to the inaugural fund, a company spokesperson said, declining to specify the amount.
Alphabet’s Google has donated US$1 million, a company spokesperson said.
Amazon is donating US$1 million. The company will broadcast the inauguration on its Prime Video service, an Amazon spokesperson said.
Bank of America, the second-largest US lender, and investment bank Goldman Sachs plan to contribute to Trump’s inaugural committees, but have yet to decide on the amount, spokespersons for each bank said.
Meta Platforms has donated US$1 million, a company spokesperson told Reuters.
CEO Sam Altman is planning to make a personal donation of US$1 million to the inaugural fund, an OpenAI spokesperson said.
“President Trump will lead our country into the age of AI, and I am eager to support his efforts to ensure America stays ahead,” Altman said in a statement.
Retail trading platform Robinhood Markets donated US$2 million, a company spokesperson said.
Uber Technologies and its CEO Dara Khosrowshahi donated US$1 million each, a company spokesperson said.
Trump will take the oath of office, likely administered by US Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, in January 20 in front of the US Capitol.
