Dongo Sawmills to get things right

CASTLE Lager Premiership basement outfit Dongo Sawmills owner, Francis Dongo, believes his team will get things right and collect nine points from their next three assignments to claw their way out of relegation zone.The soft spoken Nyanga businessman, whose team will host Chapungu at Vengere Stadium on Sunday before the much-awaited clash against Mutare army outfit Buffaloes at Sakubva Stadium in a rescheduled midweek tie next Thursday and then host Hwange at Vengere, told Manica Post Sport that they have set a target for themselves as a club to collect all the nine points from the next three matches.

He expressed confidence that they will secure yet another dance in the top-flight league and by winning the three matches will see them frog-jump to a relatively safer position.
“Yes, people might have their own way of looking at it, but I am happy that we have a good team spirit prevailing at the club. Everyone is quite aware of the role they have to play to ensure that we survive relegation.

“In fact, we have no doubt that we will get the nine points from the matches against Chapungu (home), Buffaloes (away) and Hwange (home). We are aware it will not be an easy task because all the teams are now after maximum points, but we have done our homework and we are geared for that,” said Dongo.

Dongo Sawmills, like their fellow Manicaland side, Buffaloes are already out of the Chibuku Cup and will now plunge into the last nine league matches of the season needing nothing, but crucial points that will ensure top flight league survival.

Francis Dongo, whose team was exploring ways of bolstering its technical department during the mid-season transfer window to avert relegation, latter decided to stick to his men and if the recent 2-0 triumph over fellow league new boys, Thsolotsho FC is anything to go by, the Rusape outfit might spring a surprise and secure yet another dance in the top-flight league.

Dongo who have literally personalised the Castle Lager League basement position since the start of the season acquired two players from Buffaloes FC on free loan.

Although they were not getting much game time at Buffaloes, goalkeeper, Farai Samunyai and centre back, Kudzanai ‘Ibudu’ Mangondo seem to have added depth to Dongo alongside other transfer window acquisitions that include Triangle’s David Mubaiwa and CAPS United striker.
