HARARE-BASED entrepreneur, Angela Tarisai Mapfumo has urged people living with disabilities to work hard.
Mapfumo, who lives with a disability, is the founder of Santa Heights Primary School in Domboshava.
She marked the International Day of People Living with Disabilities celebrations on Saturday by holding her college’s prize-giving and graduation ceremony.
Mapfumo had an accident in 2020, resulting in her leg being amputated.
Her school was given a licence in 2003.
“I established this organisation due to the passion I have for children.
“My disability has not limited me in any way as I do everything.
“I can drive and I’m the principal of Santa Heights.
“Today, I am feeling blessed as we are celebrating our children.
“I am encouraging the community to enrol their children here because we offer the best services,” she said.
Mapfumo said she was inspired by charities she previously worked for to help the needy.
She told H-Metro that God has been blessing her since she established her organisation.
“I am feeling blessed because I was given space for a boarding school.
“It’s an honour to announce that we have a 100 percent (Grade 7) pass rate again this year.
“My prayer is that by the end of next year the school will be completed.”
