adminAir Marshal Shiri said Mr Madzore’s statements to the effect that MDC-T youths were ready to shed blood if their party loses the elections was straining the patience of security forces to the limit.
Air Marshal Shiri, who was speaking at Musiyiwa Business Centre in Bindura where he was distributing goods to less-privileged people sourced under the AFZ Commander Charity Fund, said such statements, were inimical to the prevailing peaceful environment.
The warning comes in the wake of statements made by Mr Madzore at the launch of MDC-T’s election campaign and manifesto in Marondera that he was prepared to shed blood for his party.
Mr Madzore also castigated war veterans saying nobody was born a liberation fighter.
“I was reading the newspaper. I heard that there are some who are already saying they are ready to shed blood if their party does not win. That is being foolish,” Air Marshal Shiri said.
He said such utterances were an insult to those charged with national security and all who waged the liberation struggle.
“Why are you insulting us? Haven’t we laid our guns down and allowed people to live peacefully, do their work in harmony?
“Do not force us to do that which we did not want to do,” Air Marshal Shiri said.
Turning to elections to be held on July 31, Air Marshal Shiri said people should campaign peacefully.
He told the villagers that they were mature enough to know what was good for them as black people and that they should desist from political violence.
“Political parties will come to you saying different things. Some will say we will give you land, mines so that you are empowered and cease to be beggars.
“Others would say we will source goodies for you from our friends abroad, when the goodies have been exhausted we will go back to our benefactors again.
“You are now mature people. You should know what is good for you as black people,” Air Marshal Shiri said.
Turning to the goods that he brought for the villagers, Air Marshal Shiri directed community leaders to distribute them impartially regardless of one’s political affiliation.
The beneficiaries included the elderly, the disabled and orphans, among others.
The goods included blankets, shoes, exercise books among other goods.
