When the weather gets colder, it’s easy for people to sacrifice style for warmth — we are not judging you, but a fashion disaster is just that. Here are some of the “Please Don’ts” of fashion in winter.
Don’t take pyjama’s out
When the house is refrigerator cold, it is hard to get out of the bed and get dressed. Hear it from the person who wears Muppets to work — and I will do it again! Baggy pyjama-like looking clothes might warm you up, but they will make you look lame.
Don’t go overboard
when layering
Indeed, layering is a good thing, but the line has to be drawn somewhere. Going overboard can have you look like a moving pile of laundry and we see many of those in the streets.
If you have to do it then do it right, when wearing three or more layers up top, keep the bottom long and lean with a pair of skinny pants.
Ease up on the trends
Shiny leggings, bright coloured knee-high boots and colourful accessories certainly fit into the trendy category, but when worn altogether, the look is just wrong. Unless you are going to be in a Nicki Minaj or Lady Gaga’s crazy music video then I suggest you ease up on the trends.
Tone down on the summery clutches when it is cold and remember this: trends are best test-driven one — or maybe two — at a time.
Don’t torture yourself
The worst fashion disaster one can easily pull. This means simply not wearing warm clothes when it is cold.
It does not matter how hot you think your outfit is and how brave you want us to think you are.
It is just sad really, a tank top or shot and skimpy clothes when everyone else is covered up because of the cold weather. It remains a fashion disaster even when the weather plays tricks on you and suddenly changes while you are wearing your crop top or vest. Its winter, you should know better than to leave the house without a cardigan.
Till next week, stay hot.
