FLAME Lily have dissolved their executive and appointed a new one as the club feel the heat in their maiden year in the Castle Lager Premiership. A new executive, chaired by Nobert Chomurenga, who would be deputised by Tendai Chaponda Zulu, has been put in place.
Zimbabwe Prison Services spokesperson Elizabeth Karinda Banda is the new secretary-general, while Tonderai Mutivaringa is the vice secretary-general.
Noel Kore is the new treasurer.
Zulu, who was also in the old executive, says the executive was made up of people who had academic commitments and could not fully concentrate on football issues.
He said the interim technical team will remain in charge.
The prisoners meet Harare City this afternoon at Rufaro.
Flame Lily coach Backlyfield Chivenga says they aren’t seeing themselves as relegation candidates yet.
“We are prepared as a team and we hope to do better in their backyard. It is an open match where we can lose or win, but we will give it our best.
“It is still too early to talk of relegation. Our main aim is to avoid relegation. And we will do everything to avoid relegation and we will not respect any team.
“But there are no easy games in the league and every team is fighting for survival. So we just have to go for broke.
“We are doing everything else but we are not converting and during the transfer window we will beef our squad, especially getting the strikers,” he said.
Harare City assistant coach, Mkuphali “Mr Cooper” Masuku, said the afternoon’s tie will be a tricky match.
“It will be a difficult game but we have to fight for three points. We drew in the first game and we are looking to do better at home.
“The positive thing is we have gone for four games without conceding a goal. We have been managing to defend well but failing to score and burying the chances which come our way.
“We have no pressure as a team and the only pressure we have is we should start scoring,” said Masuku.
Elsewhere in the Castle Lager Premiership, Dongo Sawmill, who beat Whawha 1-0 in Rusape, now travel for the reverse tie at Ascot tomorrow hoping to notch another victory.
Dongo will be missing two players, Lawrence Masibhera and Physwell Madhazi, through suspensions.
Lloyd Mutasa’s Whawha are also struggling.
Bulawayo giants Highlanders invade the Lowveld tomorrow afternoon for a tie against Kelvin Kaindu’s high-flying Triangle.
Bosso will be without skipper, Eric Mudzingwa, and striker Obadiah Mudzingwa while Triangle will be without Praise Tonha.
However, Bosso welcome back striker Thomas Chideu who was in South Africa for trials with Ajax Cape Town.
