Door to dialogue is acknowledging President as winner: Amb Mutsvangwa

THE key entry point to a productive dialogue with President Mnangagwa is for CCC leader Nelson Chamisa to send a simple congratulatory message to the country’s First Citizen on winning the 2023 National Harmonised Elections, Zanu PF National Spokesperson Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa said yesterday.

Speaking to The Herald, Ambassador Mutsvangwa said a simple congratulatory message would set the tone for a constructive and meaningful engagement between the two parties.

This comes after Mr Chamisa was quoted in a local publication saying that he has been trying to engage with President Mnangagwa to no avail.

“A simple congratulatory message is the magic wand to all the hopes and ambitions of Nelson Chamisa. The sticking sore thumb is the griping of Chamisa, all that for self serving narcissism and unruly lust for apex national power. It is plainly churlish of him to seek dialogue as a back door entry to national political legitimacy outside of the ambit of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission, the duly instituted electoral body.”

Ambassador Mutsvangwa urged Mr Chamisa to take the first step towards reconciliation by extending a message of congratulations to President Mnangagwa.

“The ZEC announcement of the winner is the only constitutional avenue of political legitimacy. It said there was a winner, the Zanu PF leader, President Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa. Every individual and entity that matters endorsed this and sent a congratulations message.

“Paradoxically, the winning parliamentary deputies and local councillors of the CCC accepted this electoral outcome and proceeded to be sworn into public office.”

Ambassador Mutsvangwa also dismissed claims that so-called hardliners within Zanu PF were preventing Mr Chamisa from meeting President Mnangagwa, alleging that Mr Chamisa was simply trying to deflect attention from his own political problems.

“He should eschew his wish for Zanu PF to be visited by the internecine fights that are afflicting his benighted CCC. Zanu PF hardliners are an escapist figment of his tortured political soul.

“Rather than him beckoning them, his party should be publicly owning up to their own political garb unless they are starved of their own courage and conviction. The solid, tried-and-tested Zanu PF cadreship and membership scoff at the Chamisa play, acting as the self-anointed Nicodemus spokesperson.”

President Mnangagwa, Ambassador Mutsvangwa said, was a principled legal professional who has no interest in helping Chamisa undermine the country’s Constitution, which was unanimously approved in 2013.

“Chamisa should finally wake up and dial up the congratulatory message sticking in his political throat.

“And he should strive to breed unity and love within CCC rather than moonlight as a spokesperson for an imagined Zanu PF hardline faction.”
