The double-edged event will take place at Glamis Arena on September 16. The first part of the event will be a sungura affair that will have various musicians performing between 10am and 6pm. The second slot will be headlined by South Africa’s Cassper Nyovest who will be supported by Jah Prayzah, Winky D and Soul Jah Love.
The Cassper Nyovest concert begins at 7pm and fans that will have attended the sungura event will enjoy the night gig without an extra cost. Tickets to the sungura gala will be going for $5 while entry to the Cassper Nyovest event is pegged at $10.
Sungura musicians to perform in the afternoon are Alick Macheso, Suluman Chimbetu, Peter Moyo, Romeo Gasa, Simon Mutambi, Lucky Kumene, Tatenda Pinjisi and Somandla Ndebele. Traditional contemporary singer Sam Dondo and dancehall chanter Freeman will be guest performers at the sungura event.
Besides Winky D, Soul Jah Love and Jah Prayzah, other local acts that are set to share the stage with Cassper Nyovest are Tehn Diamond, Junior Brow, T-Gonz and Stunner. Impala Car Rental director Thompson Dondo said the event would mark their milestone achievements in the industry.
“We are celebrating in a big way because this has been a long time of providing service and witnessing tremendous growth.
“We managed to spread our wings in the region recently and we are celebrating in this spirit of international growth,” said Dondo.
“Our company has been involved in sponsoring music events and we have brought in many artistes to celebrate with us as a sign of our appreciation for their creativity. We have worked with most musicians that will be performing at the event and we want it to be a day to remember. Many prizes will be won as we have fun and salute our clients.”
He said they decided to bring in Cassper Nyovest as the main act to cap the celebrations in style.
The South African musician will perform in Bulawayo a day before his Harare gig and it will be another weekend for him to reunite with his local fans. The musician has made international breakthrough through various hits that have won him many admirers in the country.
