DOWNWARD VARIATION DISMISSED

A HARARE man left the courtroom disappointed after his application for a downward variation in maintenance was dismissed.

Sylus Mukota applied for a downward variation from $66 000 to $20 000, claiming he was unable to continue giving Chuma Chakuphekedza the amount she was granted.

“I am no longer employed and have four other children.

“I am facing challenges in paying the amount.

“As we speak, I have not paid this month’s maintenance,” said Mukota.

Magistrate Sharon Mashavire ordered Mukota to pay the amount he owes before making any application.

“You cannot violate the law and at the same time make an application,” said the magistrate.
