DPRK marks Kim Il Sung 100th birth anniversary

develop and strengthen friendship and co-operation with Zimbabwe since it was in a national liberation struggle.
The common cause of the two countries for independence, peace and friendship should surely be successful.
The people of the DPRK miss president Kim Il Sung very much because his whole life was dedicated to their happiness.
He was the president of the country, and before that was the benevolent father of the whole population. He is still remembered as the father of the people rather than the leader of the country.
“The people are my god” was his constant view and lifetime motto. From the beginning of his revolutionary career, he went among the people and mixed with them.
The 20-year-long anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle was marked by his love for, and devotion to the people. He said that he (commander of the guerrilla army) was also a son of the people.
President Kim Il Sung also said as fish cannot live without water, so guerrillas cannot live without the people. Guided by this idea, he led the guerrilla army to defend the life and property of the people, share life and death, joy and sorrow with them and finally achieve the historic cause of the country’s liberation.
President Kim Il Sung always put the people’s interests at the heart of policy making and administered politics to meet their demands and wishes.
In September 1947, he visited the Songjin Steel Works (at the time). As it was only two years after the country’s liberation, the country badly needed steel. When he acquainted himself with the situation of the plant, he came to know that the induction furnace workshop at the works was a place of toilsome labour that claimed a lot of Korean workers’ lives before the liberation. He got furious when he saw workers working at the killer furnace.
Steel is precious for the DPRK, but it can never be exchanged with the lives of workers, he said, and he told the accompanying officials to blast it away without leaving a trace. It was his adamant decision.
Thanks to his noble view of people that puts the interests and well-being of the people at the top, the universal free health care and other social benefits began to be enforced in the flames of the Fatherland Liberation War, or the Korean War.
People’s interests and their demands were the criteria for all his thinking and activities and sharing joy and sorrow with them was his constant leadership principle.
President Kim Il Sung was always on endless on-site guidance tours until the last moments of his life. He wanted to go and see wherever people lived.
He was happiest when he was among the people and most pleased to see the people’s welfare improving.
In April 1992, a delegation of journalists from the US’ Washington Times visited Pyongyang and met the President.
An American journalist asked him how he felt on his birthday and what his hobby was.
He answered that he was truly happy to have lived in the people’s love and trust for 80 years and he would continue to do his best to meet the people’s expectations and prove himself worthy of their trust, adding that he had no particular hobby or amusement of his own and that he was fond of reading, and he liked mixing with the people and sharing their company.
His informal yet really meaningful words summarised his unusual view of life and happiness.
The field inspection tours he made throughout his life to meet the people — for their happiness and the country’s prosperity — covered every nook and cranny of the country wherever they lived.
The name of the country, the gains of the revolution and monumental structures built across the country tell legendary stories about the president who devoted his all life to the people’s well-being.
Comrade Kim Il Sung, father of the Korean people was venerated as eternal president of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
