Renowned poet, Prince Mazinkalakatha Ncube, popularly known as Dr Gasolo, is set to walk 156km from his homestead in Matshetsheni, Gwanda, Matabeleland South to Bulawayo from 8 to 10 August.

The initiative of the walk was created in 2022. In its third edition, the “Long Walk to Success” journey aims at amplifying the voices of creatives and raising awareness against drugs, alcohol and substance abuse.

Dr. Gasolo will engage with communities, artistes and corporate leaders, promoting collaboration and support for creative initiatives. He hopes to identify talents in remote areas and provide platforms for showcasing their skills.

The walk also aims to bridge the gap between the arts and corporate sectors, promoting a drug-free Bulawayo.
“As I walk, I am reminded of the power of Ubuntu – the understanding that we are all connected and that our success is tied to the success of those around us. Let us walk together, support each other and build a brighter future for all,” said Dr Gasolo.

Along the way, Dr. Gasolo plans to donate sewing machines to teenagers in Matshetsheni, empowering them with skills to start their own businesses. He believes that by supporting local talent and promoting a drug-free Zimbabwe, we can build a brighter future for all.

The walk will be broadcast live on Dr. Gasolo’s Facebook page. He invited everyone to join him in person or virtually and called for partners and sponsors to support his initiative.
