Dr Nkomo SA celebrations preps on course

THE annual Dr Joshua Nkomo commemorations held in South Africa are at an advanced stage, with organisers of the event thrilled to announce an intriguing assortment of acts during extravaganza.

Matabeleland Entertainment News (MEN), the organisers of the event said this year’s celebrations had been dubbed — 100 years of Nkomoism, 100 years of selflessness.

MEN promised a bigger and better event this year, saying that they have partnered with several other companies in South Africa.

“This will be the 5th time we celebrate a life well lived. This is a people’s event and this year it is supported by Kingdom Blue Funeral Services,” said one of the organisers Mongezi Mpofu.

The celebrations will be held at Hillbrow Theatre on Saturday 1 July, with entrance free for all.

“This year’s event will be more educational, as we have invited young businesspeople such as Mthabisi Nkiwane of GreenWorld, Collet Ndlovu of South Africa Reserve Bank, Thabani Ndlovu, professional speaker and life coach and pastor Acts Aota to mention just a few, to motivate our people to follow and adopt Nkomo’s values, such as education, unity and peace.

“‘Cultural ambassadors will educate our people on the importance of safeguarding our culture and heritage and taking pride in our identity even if we are staying in foreign lands. Invited guests include Mehluli Moyo of the Joshua Cultural Movement in Zimbabwe, liberation fighters, Nkomo family and other community leaders,” said Mongezi.

The event will also act as a platform for a number of South Africa-based upcoming and established artistes to showcase their talents.

The line-up includes the comical axe wielding Madlela Skhobokhobo, who is also part of the organisers, Mlambos Express Band, Thabo Arts, Zinjaziyamluma, Insukamini, Amabhukudwana, Amachwane Amahle, Mehlokazulu, Abafana BakaMzilikazi, Abafana BakaGodlwayo, Izwi Lesiphelo, Nombeko Kahlela, Bongani Mncube, Gugu, Big 5 and TK brothers, Tshabanda Mapoko Sounds, Amajaha Amahle, Thulie Khumalo, Igqishamkantsha, Imbizo Messengers and Inkanyezi Zezulu, among others.
