Drag Racing in Grand finale

THIS Saturday features the final event of the 2015 Telecel Drag Racing Series at Donnybrook Raceway. Both drag racing fans and competitors will not want to miss another great day out at “The Drags”, particularly as this will be the final event for the year with the first competition in the 2016 season only anticipated for after the rains around March.

As this popular public motorsport comes to the end of the 2015 season, the Dragpro Club encourages drivers/riders wanting to showcase or prove their vehicles’ capabilities, to come to the track where they can “race legal” at a sanctioned Sables Dragpro Club event .

The Drag Racing Series offers members of the public an affordable and accessible alternative to illegal and dangerous street racing.

Competitors can register at the track on the day and support is available for first-time competitors. The more serious competitors are expected to “go for broke” at this final event as competition at the top continues to intensify and competitors return to the track with new modifications and enhanced performance.

This year has seen the Sables Dragpro Club focus on improving spectator facilities at the Donnybrook main circuit venue and plans are still underway for capacity grandstands to be erected before the 2016 Series when the club wants to focus on bringing in foreign competitors.

Since the July drag racing event, new spectator viewing space has been opened up close to the finish line. The Dragpro Club has partnered with a local radio station for the Grand Finale event to further promote the sport and increase awareness of this growing motorsport.

The final event in the 2015 Series will also include a Sound Off hosted by Zimtorque and Venom Customs and the day’s programme will end with the popular Spin City “Fat Cat & Crew” burnouts. Admission is $5 per person with children under 12 years free. There will be full bar and catering and jumping castles for the kids.

Gates open at 9am and the programme runs until 5pm.

The 2015 Telecel Drag Racing Series has been proudly partnered by Telecel, hp lubes/Castrol, Turbo Solutions Africa, Financial Gazette and Oracle Imaging.
