Drama as man tries to remove pants in court

tried to remove his pants to show the court injuries he sustained on his private parts.
Mr Singlawyer Mushunje, the Zanu-PF chairman for Epworth, claimed to have been assaulted by Billiat (23) and seven others while his private parts were tied with a copper cable.
He was giving his testimony when he tried to remove his pants in front of a packed courtroom but was stopped by the prosecutor in the middle of taking off his pair of trousers.
“I want to show the court how seriously I was injured. I am no longer able to perform well in bed,” said a sobbing Mr Mushunje.
“I left Zimbabwe for Zambia in 2008 and returned home in March last year. I could not even get the chance to enter my house as the accused persons suddenly grabbed me while I was still at the gate.
“They heavily assaulted me and took me to a river where they threw sand on my face. They later tied my private parts with a cable and I collapsed.
“I only regained consciousness when my son who wanted to use the toilet saw me and alerted others who then performed first aid on me. They later took me to the hospital,” he said
Magistrate Mr Morgan Nemadire was forced to eject Billiat’s mother and his brother-in-law from the courtroom as they were making noise while tapping benches in protest.
The two had to be escorted out of the courtroom by a police officer. Billiat is also facing kidnapping and theft charges.
The State closed its case after leading evidence from four witnesses who included Mushunje, Viola, William Punduka and Tatenda Matambanadzo who was also assaulted by Billiat on a separate occasion.
The trial continues on November 9.
Allegations against Billiat arose on March 21 when he connived with seven other men and stormed Mushunje’s residence and assaulted him accusing him of causing violence in 2008. The gang is alleged to have carried Mushunje to Ruwa River, where they continued assaulting him and tied his genitals with an electric cable. They returned him home and dumped him in a toilet after stealing his and 2 200 000 Zambian Kwacha.
One of the alleged perpetrators, Tawanda Dzavakwa went and filed a false police report against Mushunje.
The court heard that on a different occasion Billiat, while in the company of three other men attacked another Zanu-PF activist Matambanadzo in June this year.
The court heard that the four saw Matambanadzo going to a tuck shop in Epworth, before they grabbed him by the neck and asked him about their plans in the Zanu-PF party.
They assaulted him and threatened to stab him with a knife forcing him to divulge information.
