AFTER a successful four years of searching for local talent, the biggest talent search is back and digging deeper to catch the finest talent out there.
Organisers of Dream Star Zimbabwe said this year’s edition of the talent search is looking deep to catch all the finest talent the nation has to produce.
Dream Star has a history of choosing talent from tertiary institutions but this year it’s going to be different.
“This year we will be spreading our wings. We will be taking the talent show into high density suburbs so that we can catch all the hidden talents,” said the talent show spokesperson Tinashe Kitchen.
Kitchen said the auditions would be held at community halls and where possible they would have a mobile stage to move around and stop at any random place then conduct the auditions there.
“We are thinking of conducting these auditions at community halls and if time allows we might have a road show where we will conduct the auditions,” he added.
There’s relatively good money to be won.
“At auditions level we will give our winners US$200 on the spot then they will have to compete for the grand prize of US$3 000,” he said.
Kitchen said this year’s top prizes included a tour to China, opportunities to work full-time both in China and in Zimbabwe, recording deals with Jacaranda Culture and Media Corporation Studios, including the cash prize.
This year’s first set of auditions will be held at the Midlands State University this weekend.
Dream Star has produced some of the finest artistes in the country including Union 5 who recently made it to Nigeria’s superstar Mr Eazi Top 10 of the EmpaAfrica project.
Last year’s winner was gospel artiste Desire Makoni.
