Preparations are at an advanced stage for this year’s edition of Dreamstar national finals with contestants making final touches at the boot camp at Highlands Sports Club.
The talent show will be held at the Harare International Conference Centre this Saturday.
In an interview, event spokesperson Tinashe Kitchen said all was in place and finalists were making their final preparations.
“We are happy that the day is approaching and everything is now in place. We are encouraging fans to come in their numbers to support their favourite acts on the night.
This time around we have 15 contestants unlike the usual 10 to give more people a chance to shine,” he said.
Kitchen said the contestants were polishing their acts and receiving mentorship from different influential personalities.
“Contestants who have been in camp since last week are receiving mentorship and coaching from the likes of Cindy Munyavi, Nikki in the Stars, Rute, Leonard Mapfumo, Enock Batawu, Trevor Dondo, and many more.
“The young performers are also receiving grooming, etiquette, HIV/AIDS awareness, hygiene and team-building skills training from other partners and organisations,” he said.
He added that their goal was to nature talent in the youngsters.
“Our goal as Dreamstar is to leave these young people better off than when they came to us. It is unfortunate we can not make everyone a star, but what we can do is assist them in other ways that will help them become well-rounded and goal-oriented members of society,” said Kitchen.
