Driver, conductor get 10 years for raping minor

Malvern Chifamba and Timothy Rwodzi were sentenced to 15 years behind bars each but five years were knocked off on condition they do not commit a similar offence within that period.
Harare magistrate Mr Rogers Kachambwa, said they were family men who had no respect for a minor.
“Rape is a serious offence and quite prevalent. They both took time to sexually abuse a juvenile thereby traumatising her.
“There is no doubt they connived to rape her in the commuter omnibus,” Mr Kachambwa said.
He said their moral decadence was “highly deplorable to say the least” and they would serve as an example to other kombi crews that such behaviour would not be tolerated.
Prosecutor Ms Valery Ngoma proved that on May 12 last year at around 2pm the girl boarded the pair’s kombi in Harare.
She was the first one on and the pair drove off to Warren Park.
Chifamba threatened her with death and they parked in the Warren Park D rank where they took turns to rape her.
When she screamed for help they stuffed a rag in her mouth.
They dumped her in Mbare and she made a police report leading to their arrest.
