The driver of a haulage truck that was on the Harare-Chirindu highway enroute to the capital escaped unhurt after his vehicle caught fire while in motion about six kilometres before Banket.
The driver who requested anonymity said he managed to stop the vehicle and unhooked two empty trailers.
“I noticed thick black smoke and realised that the truck was on fire. I then managed to stop the vehicle,” he said, adding that the truck exploded into flames soon after he unhooked the trailers.
