A 37-year-old man from Gokwe allegedly beat a kombi driver to death after he caught him in a compromising position with his wife.
Midlands police spokesperson, Inspector Joel Goko said the incident occurred last Thursday in Gokwe’s Mapfungautsi low-density suburb at around 9:30pm. Insp Joel said Cleopas Magwira fatally assaulted Solomon Tauro, a commuter omnibus driver in Kadoma, after catching him pants-down with his wife.
“We are investigating a case of murder in which a male adult died after he was assaulted by one male adult who caught him in a compromising position with his wife,” he said.
“It is alleged that Tauro, who is married, went to see his mistress — who is the suspect’s wife — in Gokwe. The two used Tauro’s commuter omnibus as their love nest.”
However, all hell broke loose when Magwira, who had been told what was happening by his friends, tracked them down.
Magwira allegedly confronted Tauro and started beating him up as his wife disappeared from the scene.
Insp Goko said after the alleged attack, “Tauro drove to a service station in Gokwe before falling unconscious after sustaining deep cuts on the face due to the assault.
“He was found by passers-by who rushed him to Gokwe District Hospital where he was further referred to Gweru Provincial Hospital where he died on the same day.”
