Football legend, Joel “Dubai” Luphahla, has once again danced past the competition — but this time, it wasn’t on the pitch, it was in the classroom!
The former Warriors and Highlanders wing wizard is now officially one of Africa’s top coaching minds after acing his Caf coaching course — while 22 others flunked!
Out of 25 African coaches, only three made the cut — and Luphahla was one of them, proving that he’s just as slick with the clipboard as he was with the ball at his feet.
“I’m very happy with this achievement. It wasn’t easy — many sleepless nights, a lot of studying. But I stayed the course. Now it’s time to go for my Caf A licence!” said a beaming Luphahla.
The towering tactician, affectionately known as Dubai for his dazzling footwork during his playing days, is now leading Simba Bhora, having taken over after the surprise departure of Tonderai Ndiraya — the coach, who just won them their first-ever PSL title in 2024.
Luphahla’s sharp rise comes at a time when Simba Bhora needs fresh leadership to defend their crown — and with a Caf badge in his back pocket, the club believes he’s the right man for the job.
In true tabloid fashion, one fan said:
“If he can dodge defenders, he can dodge pressure. Go get that second star, Dubai!”
