DUBE JOINS YOUNG AFRICANS

Sports Reporter

FORMER Highlanders hitman, Prince Dube, has crossed the floor to join Tanzanian heavyweights, Young Africans Sports Club on a two-year contract after falling out with rivals, Azam.

Dube officially joined Young Africans, popularly known as Yanga, yesterday although reports suggest the move was done in May and they were just waiting for the end of June to make it public.

The former national team striker had believed that his contract with Azam was ending on June 30 but he still had two more years.

In the ensuing fallout, Dube stopped training with Azam to push for his release.

Azam then demanded US$300 000 for his release while the striker, at one stage, offered US$250 000 to be set free.

Reports yesterday suggested that Dube officially completed his move to Yanga after the club transferred around US$275,000 into Azam’s account to facilitate his departure.

In 2020, Dube became the third Zimbabwean at Azam, joining from Highlanders for a reported US$50 000 fee.

The initial contract was for two years.

He has been one of the leading strikers in the Tanzanian Premiership whose clubs have been flexing their muscles on the continent.
