Dube yet to adjust to Spurs style

FORMER Highlanders FC striker Cleopas Dube says he is yet to adapt to the South African National First Division side Witbank Spurs’ way of playing. He says their football is played at a slower tempo than his former club Highlanders. He said at Bosso they played quick and entertaining football on the carpet.

The big centre striker has so far scored two league goals for the club and provided assists.

As a striker he believes he should have scored a handful of goals by now. Dube still believes that he will finally adapt to the team’s style of play in a few games’ time.

“I know my scoring prowess and the type of passes I need. I can’t complain I’m still new and learning the team’s type of play. Spurs are a competitive team, they have good facilities compared to Zimbabwean clubs.”

The former Highlanders striker said his priority is to help the team get promoted.

“With the quality of players we have I’m confident that we’re ready for a bigger league,” Dube said.

His ultimate aim is to win the Golden Boot award at the end of the season. Dube signed a two-year contract at the beginning of the season.

His Witbank Spurs lost 0-3 to Jomo Cosmos last Wednesday in a league match.

“It’s always painful to lose a game by such a huge margin but in our next game we’ve to collect maximum points,” said Dube

Spurs will entertain Santos at home next Sunday.

Former Highlanders striker Ralph Matema is now at Cosmos but is yet to kick the ball as he is still sorting out his papers.
