DUNGWIZA TRAILBLAZERS AWARDS MOVE TO MARONDERA

THE Dungwiza Community Trailblazers Awards (DCTA) are officially heading to Marondera, signaling a new era of economic partnership between the urban talent of Chitungwiza and the vast resources of Mashonaland East.

By hosting the 2026 gala in Marondera, the organisers said they were moving beyond local recognition to celebrate the entire region as a driver of national growth.

DCTA CEO, Albert Masaka, said that the move highlights a strategic “corridor” where Chitungwiza’s technical skills meet the agricultural and administrative strength that makes Mashonaland East a provincial leader.

Masaka believes this synergy is the key to a prosperous future.

“Mashonaland East is the heartbeat of Zimbabwe’s agriculture and a rising hub for industry.

“By bringing these awards here, we are acknowledging that Chitungwiza’s success is tied to the province’s growth.

“We are creating a platform where provincial leadership and local innovators work as one team.”

He urged businesses across the province to support the event, as the awards are an investment in the Mashonaland East economic ecosystem.

“This is about celebrating the people who move our province forward – from the farmers in Marondera and Mutoko to the tech-preneurs in Seke.”

The event, set for May 29 at Hope Fay Hotel and Conference Centre, will honour 60 trailblazers.

A major highlight is the “Value Chain” initiative, designed to link Chitungwiza’s skilled fabricators and digital experts directly with the large-scale farms and livestock producers that anchor the Mashonaland East economy.

“Our goal is to make sure the province’s resources are processed and managed by the province’s own talent,” Masaka added.

“We are bridging the gap between urban hustle and rural productivity to create jobs and wealth right here in Mashonaland East.”

The awards build on a legacy of excellence, having previously honoured provincial giants such as the Marondera Rural District Council and the ZETDC, alongside cultural icons like Alick Macheso and Dadza D.

Journalists Muchaneta Chimuka, Gilbert Munetsi, Yeukai Karengezeka, Philemon Jambaya and Langton Nyakwenda, who have long told the province’s stories, have also been recognised.

By uniting the energy of Chitungwiza with the administrative power of Marondera, the DCTA is ensuring that excellence is not just celebrated, but turned into a lasting legacy for the people of Mashonaland East.

The DCTA are a regional offshoot of the national Zim Community Trailblazers Awards.
